PRIVACY POLICY

AcountAPill — medication reminders with accountability. Effective October 22, 2026

1. Scope

This Privacy Policy explains how ACountAPill collects, uses, discloses, retains and protects information in its website, app and medication-accountability services. Medication information and activity may be sensitive health-related information.

2. Information Collected

Depending on how the Services are used, we may collect account identifiers, name, email address, mobile number, medication names and dosages, schedules, starting and estimated pill counts, reminder preferences, user-reported Taken, Snooze, Skip, Unsure and Need Help responses, subsequent status changes, designated partner contact details, app usage and device information, subscription records, and support communications.

For SMS, operational records may include consent and disclosure versions, date and method of consent, phone number, separate user or caregiver consent status, caregiver YES/Y or NO/N responses, confirmation messages, STOP/HELP requests, delivery outcomes, and message-related logs needed to operate and audit the program. Actual data fields and retention periods must be verified against the deployed system.

3. Purposes of use

We use information to operate accounts; schedule reminders; present pill-count estimates; record user-reported medication statuses; notify independently opted-in caregivers according to user preferences; deliver account updates and support responses; process subscriptions; protect the service; troubleshoot delivery; and meet legal obligations. We do not sell personal health information.

4. Separate user SMS consent

Creating an account, purchasing the app, or supplying a phone number does not authorize recurring SMS. SMS consent is optional, collected on a separate screen using an unchecked-by-default checkbox. The screen describes the message categories, provides links to the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy, and displays: Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help. Reply STOP to opt out.

Only an affirmative choice and confirmation enables SMS. The designed flow includes an in-app “SMS Notifications Enabled” notice and a distinct primary-user confirmation SMS. Users may decline or later opt out of SMS without cancelling their account or subscription.

5. Caregiver invitations and independent consent

If a user designates an ACountAPill Partner, an invitation may be sent to the designated phone number. The invitation asks the partner to “Reply YES or Y to agree, or NO or N to decline.” Either YES or Y is accepted as affirmative consent, and either NO or N declines. The system must not activate ongoing partner notifications before affirmative consent is recorded. An accepting partner receives a separate enrollment confirmation SMS.

An invitation may reveal that the user wants to share medication-accountability updates. We limit ongoing sharing to the user's selected permissions and the partner's consent. Partners may opt out using STOP. Caregiver replies and opt-out records may be retained as necessary for compliance and program administration.

6. SMS content, support and opt-out

Depending on the user's settings and the recipient's consent, messages may contain medication names, dose details, scheduled times, pill-count estimates, user-reported dose statuses, assistance requests, account updates, and enrollment confirmations. SMS and lock-screen previews can expose sensitive health-related information, particularly on shared devices.

Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help. Reply STOP to opt out. Replying STOP opts out of recurring SMS from the relevant program; HELP requests messaging support at notify@acountapill.com. The medication-assistance command NH / Need Help is distinct from HELP and is not an emergency service. Opting out of SMS does not automatically delete an account or cancel a subscription.

7. Sharing and service providers

Information may be disclosed to the user's designated, separately consenting ACountAPill Partners to deliver authorized notifications and reports. Providers supporting hosting, communications, SMS delivery (including Twilio where used), email, Apple in-app purchases, security and technical operations may process information as necessary to provide the Services.

We do not sell or share SMS opt-in data, mobile numbers, or SMS consent information with third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes. Mobile messaging originator opt-in data and consent are not shared with third parties for marketing. We do not sell personal health information. We may disclose information where legally required or permitted, subject to applicable safeguards.

8. International Processing

Service providers may process information outside Canada, where different laws may apply and government authorities may have lawful access. Specific provider locations and contractual protections should be verified before publication.

9. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. No internet, email or SMS system is completely secure. Do not send unnecessary sensitive information in support requests.

10. Retention and deletion

Information is retained as reasonably necessary to provide the Services, administer account and medication records, maintain security, comply with legal requirements, and document SMS consent and opt-out history. Exact retention periods and any legal holds must be confirmed against the implemented system and applicable law. Requests for access, correction, or deletion may be sent to notify@acountapill.com.

11. Your choices and rights

Subject to applicable law, you may request access, correction or deletion of personal information and withdraw consent. You can disable optional SMS and reply STOP to opt out. You may still use supported non-SMS functions. Contact notify@acountapill.com for privacy requests; identity verification may be required.

12. Children

The Services are not intended to knowingly collect information from children without appropriate authorization. Contact us if you believe a child’s information was collected improperly.

13. Cookies and technical information

Our website may use cookies or similar technologies for operation, security, preferences and analytics. Browser controls may affect some features.

14. Changes and contact

We may update this Policy and post a revised effective date. Contact notify@acountapill.com for privacy questions and requests.
